Two Months in the Philippines Apr 02

I'm sitting in the airport in Korea on my way back to the States. I can't believe that I just finished a two month trip to the Philippines, including a ten day side trip to Vietnam. As soon as I get home I'm going to post my photos and videos. I really learned a lot about the local people and also improved my Tagalog, Cebuano and Vietnamese language skills. That's really the best way to learn a language, I feel, is to be on the ground hearing and speaking with the local people.

In Vietnam and Loving it! Mar 20

I am presently in HCM City, Vietnam,  after an absense of 39 years. Some things are the same and some things are different.

Same:

  • Still takes the same method to cross the street. Just step out and slowly and steadily walk to the other side, letting all the vehicles go around you.
  • People are still friendly and helpful.

Different:

  • Not many bicycles on the street. Seems they have been replaced by scooters.
  • Most everyone in the city has a cell (mobile) phone
  • No more "cyclos" (bicycles with the front two wheels). Only for tourist transportation.

Will keep you updated.

Watch TV on Your Laptop! Dec 06

 Watch TV on Your Laptop!

Since I travel a lot I've been looking for a good way to be able to watch TV without getting a Satelite connection.  Finaly my prayers are answered. I can now watch TV from my laptop! Go here to find out how I did it!

Watch American TV online Watch TV on Your Laptop!

So you're thinking about getting a Satellite TV for your computer?

Fantastic! I believe it's one of the greatest deals around. But, like everything in life…buyer beware! Some things can be cheap in the beginning and end up being more expensive in the long run.

Believe me, I had to learn the hard way! I was so excited about the concept of watching hundreds of TV channels on my laptop I rushed out and bought the first program I found. What a mistake that was! Without going into all the miserable details, let me just tell you that after a little investigating and asking the following questions, I'm now as happy as can be watching my satellite TV on my laptop!

Before rushing out to buy the first satellite program you see, ask these questions:

1.What are the initial costs?

2.What hardware and software do I have to buy?

3.What are the monthly costs?

4.Is there a contract involved and, if so, for how long?

5.What are the fees to break the contract?

6.Where can I contact people who are already in the program to get their opinion?

When you have the answers to these questions, you'll have the confidence to purchase your Satellite TV to Computer program without worrying that you'll have “buyer's remorse” that comes so often with impulse buying.

WARNING: When you start enjoying your TV programs on your computer, you will never want to return to the old way of watching TV on the television set! To save you some time and legwork, go straight here to this Satellite to TV Company and check out their product that allows you to stream high quality satellite TV signals over the Internet to your TV, laptop or desktop PC.

The Comfort Zone Rut May 11

Why does it seem that anything worth doing in this life you fist gotta step out of your comfort zone? My friend and classmate , Dean Welch, living in Atlanta ,GA invited me and two other classmates to go on a road trip with him, riding Harleys from the East Coast to the West, taking about eight days.Actually two will be on the Harleys and two will follow in a Hummer pulling a trailor. My first reaction was “Yahoo!, Let’s go!” Then, after a couple of days the reality and practicality of the situation began to sink in. It’ll cost too much? I can’t afford it. I’ve got obligations and responsibilities! No, It’s just not practical. Maybe another time. When explaining my very good reasons to Dean, his response was, “Dude, you’re going!”
Now what was I going to do? I was in a well established routine every day of getting up, playing on my computer, eating, taking a walk, playing on the computer again, eating again, watching the evening news, playing on the computer again and going to sleep. How could I interrupt my comfortable routine to go on a “Wild Hogs/Bucket List” adventure? But what could I do. Dean said I have to go. Five minutes ago I bought my one-way ticket to Atlanta.
As I looked back over my life I realized that every time I had a great adventure, I had to step out of my Comfort Zone (aka rut!) and do it anyway. That included getting married!
